September Networking Luncheon
The Emotionally Intelligent Coach
We all enjoy being around people who are positive, take an interest in others and enjoy what they do. At work, these people maintain high standards of honesty and integrity, are great at reading the emotional currents in a group and work collaboratively to solve problems. They listen openly, inspire others and seem to draw people towards them with little effort.
The secret of their success lies in understanding Emotional Intelligence (EQ). Simply put, EQ examines how we manage ourselves and how we handle our relationships. The ability to recognize and manage our emotions, as well as the ability to recognize and respond effectively to the emotions of others may be the most important indicators of how effective a person is in their position. Emotions are powerful and basic tools for understanding and impacting our environment. While high IQ (cognitive intelligence) often gets people in the door, high Emotional Intelligence is the key to working effectively with others, moving up in the organization and developing leadership skills. The good news about EQ is that each of us have the capacity to continually grow and develop these skills and abilities throughout our lives.
